Newborn Chiropractic & Craniosacral

Confluence Chiropractic offers individualized care for newborns. We love to take extra time with your little ones to make sure you both are comfortable with the appointment. This might look like taking time for diaper changes, feedings, and cuddles. We move at your baby’s pace.

  • As babies develop in the womb and experience the birthing process, whether vaginal or cesarean. Misalignments or subluxations can form in their spine and or cranial bones. This is why for ages 0-3 months adjustments will be paired with Craniosacral therapy.

Craniosacral therapy and Cranial Techniques transport oxygen, and other nutrients throughout the central nervous system (CNS). These techniques help the cranial structures accommodate the growing brain and brain stem, and ease tension throughout the body.

  • -We allow time for baby to adjust to arriving at the office. If needed that might look like a diaper change, feeding, and/or cuddles (these can be repeated at any point during or after the appointment).

-Younger babies we typically adjust while laying on their care provider, where they feel the safest. As babies get older we start to adjust them in a special pillow where they are nice and cozy.

-Adjustments are provided with very light pressure and finished up with light craniosacral therapy. Many people describe this looking like a mini massage.

-Many babies will fall asleep during their appointment or shortly after.

  • The frequency of care depends on each baby. We want to see babies as soon as possible after being born.

Generally speaking, we start at 1x/week for a few weeks, then go down to bi-monthly, next 1x/month, and lastly while meeting milestones.

Reasons baby could require more frequent visits:

-Torticollis (holding head to one side)

    -Plagiocephaly (flat spot on head)

    -Latching/feeding difficulties.

-Moderate digestive difficulties, including acid reflux.

We will never try to sell you on a large care plan and we will always value your opinion on the frequency of your child’s care.
